On Thursday, April 16, 2020, The Soddy-Daisy Community Library and the KELCURT Foundation announced the SDCL Student Volunteer Hours Program. The program is in response to the need for students to complete certain volunteer hour requirements for programs such as tnAcheives, Beta Club, Student Council, etc. This program takes into account the need for social distancing and quarantine protocols.
Students are invited to write a book review in exchange for one hour of volunteer service. They can earn a second volunteer hour, by creating a list of 10 discussion questions based on the same book. Required guidelines for the book review and discussion questions are available in Google Doc, jpg and pdf formats. Reviews and discussion questions may be published on social media, the KELCURT Foundation website, and other forums, with the student receiving recognition for their work. Parents may send a photo of the student via email to be included with publication.
The student must fill out a provided Google Form for the book review and for t the discussion questions.
If additional hours are needed, up to 3 books may be reviewed by students during the quarter for up to 6 hours of community service hours.
KELCURT Foundation is an IRS recognized 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and relies solely on the support of our patrons and our community, receiving no tax monies.
